This site has been set up to give potential Foundation Dentists a chance to learn something about the practice.
A word from Ian Wild, Practice Owner:
"After qualifying from Edinburgh Dental School I spent one year at Edinburgh Dental Hospital as a House Officer before moving to Oxford where I worked as an associate for three years. For the last 28 years I have run my own practice. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry but my main areas of interest are advanced restorative and aesthetic dentistry and would encourage a VDP to expand their clinical skills at our practice. I have several years' experience as a trainer and have always enjoyed very good and relaxed relationships with my VDP's.
Outside work I enjoy a very full social and family life. I am sports mad (participant and spectator) and and have been involved in junior rugby coaching for several years. I am married with twin sons and as a family we enjoy regular skiing holidays and plenty of cycling and general outdoor activities during the summer months. I believe I am proof positive that it is possible to balance a rewarding career in general dental practice with a very full social and sporting calendar and I enjoy all aspects of life to the full.
Although we are not currently a Foundation Training practice, two of us, myself and Rob Burke, have extensive experience of foundation training. Rob is an experienced local dentist who joined the practice as an associate in April 2008, previously being a partner in a mixed/private practice. He is a highly experienced dentist with good experience as a Foundation Trainer and has spent a year as the area VT Advisor. Rob also has a keen interest in advanced restorative and implant dentistry and away from dentistry enjoys most outdoor pursuits. He has recently completed the GIFT Implant Course and is now integrating this into the practice.
We have a young, loyal and friendly team with a full-time qualified dental nurse for each surgery, two receptionists and a practice manager and a part time hygienist. We all get on very well, there are plenty of laughs at work and we frequently arrange out of work social events. We are committed to staff training (both in-house and external).
